I created a short little script so I could download wallpaper albums from Imgur. It is a Linux bash script so you will need to be running on Linux or using Cygwin on Windows in order to use the script. A few months back I was working on rewriting Imgur Album Downloader to the more feature filled Reddit Image Downloader. Judging by some of the comments I have seen it seems there is still interest in the project being completed. I am sorry to say that I have not been actively working on Reddit Image Downloader lately as most of my work is being put towards my newly re-written Android app Amazon App Notifier as it now has over 10,000 active users.

    I have recently completed most of the work on the backend of the application and just have to write the UI before a working copy of the program is released. Above is a preview of the log output the backend generates when given my Reddit username (I don’t post many images as you can see). Also, as it stands right now I am still going for a “When it is done” timeline for release.

First of all I apologize for the prolonged silence on the status of updates for Imgur Album Downloader.  The program was originally written by me back in March/April for me to get practice for job interviews.  Now that I have a new job doing Java development my time to dedicate to the program has greatly dwindled (although Steam Sales and Skyrim are also to blame). Now for those of you wondering when the next update for Imgur Album Downloader will be coming… well I don’t have any more plans to update it.

This program may no longer work properly due to changes on Imgur and Reddit. I am working on a new program as an alternative: Details Here Download Here previous versions REQUIRES JRE 7: Link to download   Update (5/22/2012): I have still been doing off and on development for the next version.  As I have had less time to work on this program, I am going to release “nightly builds” in Dropbox.

I’m working on a new update for the Imgur Album Downloader. Above you can see the finished UI, however I am still working on completing the new features. Proposed new features (subject to change): Download all Imgur images from a Reddit user – By entering the URL to a Reddit user profile, the program will download all images the user has posted in either links or comments. Save to field history – Program will save a user defined number of previous entries for the save to field, preventing the need to browse for a folder every time you open the program.

Since it is a Java program, it also has the benefit of working on multiple operating systems.
