Chrome extension Steam Context Menu has been updated to version v1.2.0. This release contains the following changes: Added option to search IsThereAnyDeal Steam Context Menu allows you to search for games on Steam, SteamDB, or IsThereAnyDeal using the context menu in Google Chrome. The extension is especially useful viewing games from retailers other than Steam. When viewing a game on another retailer’s web site, select the game title text, right click and select “Search Steam”.

I recently developed a new Google Chrome extension called Steam Hover. The extension will show Steam app details with mouse hover on a Steam link. Below is a screenshot as an example. I developed the extension initially as a way to more quickly browse /r/gamedeals. For future plans I intend to look into indicating if the user already owns a game as well. Gulp Bookmarklet is a Gulp wrapper for the bookmarklet package used to generate multiple bookmarklets. The plugin was created after the amount of Bookmarklets that I develop and use myself to automate my web browsing habits warranted automating. Recent examples of bookmarklets I’ve written would be removing the tracking links on slickdeals and searching for steam games from a /r/gamedeals table. To use the plugin with Gulp, simply install the package with NPM and add it to your development dependencies:

The Windows 10 November Update adds some nice new features such as find my device and colored title bars. It also had some nasty surprises such as resetting user settings including the telemetry “features” I disabled using ShutUp10 as well as resetting my default programs. Another feature it changed on me that messed up my Ubuntu 15.10 installation was enabling Fast Startup again after I disabled it previously. If you dual boot Windows and Linux and share your files between both OS’s using an NTFS formatted partition, you may find yourself unable to boot into Linux after the update if you automount using fstab.

I frequent the Game Deals reddit to pick up indie games for cheap. When going through the comments section, I search Steam for more information on games others recommend. To accelerate that task, I created my first Google Chrome extension. Steam Context Menu provides a simple context menu to search selected text on Steam. The extension is available in the Chrome Web Store and the source is available on GitHub.

Windows 10 is available as an ISO download from Microsoft through this page, however when you visit that URL on a Windows operating system, it redirects you to a page to download their “Media Creation Tool” instead of the ISO. If you run into problems with the Media Creation Tool like I did (error 80070002 to be specific) and want to trick Microsoft’s web site into giving you an ISO download you need to spoof your user agent to be a different operating system.
